Fashions have caused scandals in different periods of history. Bikinis, for example, shocked people when models wore them at a Paris fashion show in 1946. In fact, people have been wearing bikinis since the fourth century.

Men's fashions have usually been more conservative, but in the eighteenth century the top hat caused a panic when its designer wore it in the street for the first time. Children screamed and women ran away when they saw it.
In recent years, transparent clothes have been causing some surprises at fashion shows, but people haven't worn them in the street yet.
